Trip Log: Looking Back
- 101 days, 378 Engine hours, 3540 nautical miles
- 61 days at docks, 4 days on Buoys, 36 days at Anchor
- Longest Day: 10 hours, 149 miles. Red Bay to Foggy Bay with stop in Ketchikan for fuel and to have lunch with good friend Lynn Strauss
- This was a good summer. Weather delays were minimal (We always seem to get delayed in Red Bay, AK for a day or 2-it could be the crabbing!); waters, for the most part, were relatively calm.
- We did not miss towing the skiff; fishing, crabbing & shrimping from the Tug took less planning and allowed us to fish in less than perfect weather.
- Cell phone coverage: Non-existent from just above Port Hardy until Prince Rupert. Fairly good in S.E. when within 10-15 miles of any town (Ketchikan, Wrangell, Petersburg, Sitka, Craig & Juneau).
- Emergency Travel: Rarely more than 24 hrs to Seattle via float plane and Alaska Air. Hint: Use local Travel & Ticket agents; they are on a first name basis with each other and know things that are "not in print".
- Laundry: We have a list of laundry facilities in each city from Prince Rupert north that will do your laundry for you! Some will even pick up & drop off at the boat!
- We will leave earlier next year; probably right from the Sidney Boat show (1st week in May) and return a couple of weeks earlier to avoid the beginning of the northern fog.
