RARD FAMILY
OCEAN ADVENTURE

The Dream

As we sip our first cup of coffee in a secluded anchorage, a black bear cub wanders the shoreline at low tide. While he munches eelgrass, a pair of bald eagles soars overhead.

Rendezvous in Misty Fiords

Glacier Bay

Later, as we power further north, we are surprised by a pod of orca whales heading our direction. We hear their "blowing" long before we see them porpoising and breaching. Soon after, a humpback whale rolls over to take a look at us while we fish for salmon.

Sightseeing in Chemanus

Dinner in Devilfish Bay

That afternoon we slide into a small, remote harbor. We stroll the boardwalk, provision and visit with the locals while we await the arrival of dear friends arriving by float plane from Ketchikan. Just as they arrive, we haul in the crab pot full (the appetizer!) for our rendezvous dinner.

Where is he going? (without me!)

A day in Craig!

Even when the weather "kicks up" around bedtime, we feel secure at anchor as we finish the last in a series of good novels. Lying warm and cozy in our berth, the howling wind and the pelting rain provide the background music that lulls us to sleep.

Fellow Travelers on Johnstone Straits

This is the dream we live on our American Tug. The grandeur of the waters and geography has existed for centuries; our American Tug is the vessel that allows us to wander here in comfort and confidence.
